Via unpggd Designer John Niero used silicone, LEDs, and zippers to create the Zipper Luminaire for Justnormal. This design is based on quilts. It’s supposed to reinterpret the age old process of sewing, patterning and assemblage that happens when people create quilts. Niero says that the wiring represents the thread and it is sewn into the light using a classic quilting pattern. The zipper allows you to put multiple sections together, creating a larger light. This is just like when quilt patches are made into bigger quilts. The light can be zipped onto wall brackets or placed on a surface, which could be flat or it could zipped together to create a cylinder.
